SCHOOLS
We presently have over 2,000 students attending one of our seven Liberia Open Bible Schools. We are hoping in the near future to become a registered private school system with the government, and establish a certification program for our teachers.
The Liberian government offers free public education for elementary aged children, but the class sizes are often in excess of 50 students to one teacher. Behaviorial issues are rampant as a result, and this motivates parents to send their child to a private christian education.
Unfortunately, for students to attend an Open Bible School at this time the families must pay tuition and fees to cover all the costs of operating the school. Keeping the doors open continues to be a struggle, but the Lord has blessed the schools to rank highly each year in their academic performances. Typically, teachers are underpaid for their level of training and are the only ones in the classroom with a textbook.
